If you’re a wordpress plugin or theme developer and you got a plugin/theme at wordpress.org, you probably received an email recently with “[wp-dev-news] WordPress Developer News: WordPress 2.9 Beta 2 released” subject. Yep! everybody got them and the messages says what it says: wordpress 2.9 beta is out and ready for testing. There is a blog post on the wordpress blog that says a very low version of the same thing. What you see in the picture above is actually Wordpress 2.9 Beta (a fresh install), and I know it looks exactly the same, nothing much has changed in the interface part of the admin panel (even though there are some changes here too).

Because you guys and gals are waiting and waiting for a new update on your favorite worpdress plugins, we are giving you today the deadline that we are setting for Live Countdown Timer development . The new version of Live Countdown Timer will save us a lot of time (if you know what i meen) as it will have the option to be included in posts , so each deadline will have a countdown timer for it’s next update. (hopefully this will make everybody happy)…
Now, of course, we need a deadline for the new version of Live Countdown Timer: FRIDAY 4 Sept 2009. This is the date the new version will arrive (but be warned.. it might come sooner).
UPDATE: As project manager for this plugin, i must give the bad news and apologise! We are delaying the deadline until Monday night.
Our new plugin WP-Traffic has reached since it’s launch yesterday 260 registered websites in our system. Of course not all have actually added the widget to the website but there are still a few using it. It’s a good start for this plugin as it almost broke the record for most downloaded plugin in 1 day. If tomorrow at 3 PM (our time) it has more than 824 total downloads, we have a winner.
Some “different” websites have started using the plugin and have unexpectedly mixed with the normal ones. We are working to improve the plugin and the service each day. New versions will have more features and more flexibility but we need your help to figure out what those features are going to be.
So please, leave comments here about features, bugs or what ever is else that could help to do this, here!
That’s right, Wordpress.org has 6000+ total plugins and widgets. When appchain.com started developing for wordpress, it had 5000 and something. It’s growing pretty fast!
We here at Appchain.com love competition. There’s nothing like a competitor to motivate you to make the best thing out there. Of course that’s not our main source of creation and motivation. But we love to see our work made better. Makes you want to work more, harder, better.

All our widgets(Mood Personalizer, Give a Beer, Live Countdown Timer, Advanced Twitter Widget) had a small design bug that we fixed. They are all fully compatible with any design as of this new version.
We know how much people would hate having to update plugins frequently so we are very careful on what we update when we update a plugin.
This mass update was necessary.
