Give a Beer 1.0.6 Wordpress Plugin Tutorial

Very short (because there’s not much to say) tutorial on how to use Give a Beer Wordpress plugin Version 1.0.6.

The plugin is actually a widget that show’s up in the widgets page

You need to go under Appearance -> Widgets to get to the widgets page. There you can drag and drop the Give a Beer widget into the sidebar where you want it to show:

Once you’ve done this it will show options for the widget…

These are actually the only options and this is the only interface this plugin has. It’s not powerful, just fun and useful…

#1 The Title: This is the title of the widget. Call it how ever you want : “Give me a beer”, “Give me a virtual beer” … what ever you want
#2 Paypal Link: If you leave this field empty, nothing happens. But you can add a link to your paypal or what ever you want that will redirect to once a person has clicked and a beer was given…
#3 Reset Beers: If you check this and click the Save button, it will reset all the beers given to zero, so it will  start from the beginning. (be carefull with this )

How does the plugin look on the sidebar:

If it’s just sitting there, it will show like the picture above on the left (minus the border and the underline under the title.. that changes from theme to theme). Once clicked for the first time, it will increase the number of beers +1. If clicked again right after the first click by the same person a message will appear (just like the above picture with the beer on the right).

That’s all, simple and quick.
