AppChain.com New Direction
First of all, Happy New Year to all the readers! (a little late but better late than never – I’ve been busy) Thanks for standing with us for the first half of 2009. Since the last part of 2009 Appchain has taken a few steps into the future and has evolved in terms of quality of the content it provides. There was a small period of time where theme reviews where made for free and premium themes. That experiment was partly a success but a huge time killer with too little success to continue. It died and something better took it’s place. Something much better…
30 Dec 2009 was the day that Slidette was introduced to wordpress.org and started to get some attention. 700 unique on the first day kind of attention (I know it’s not much but it’s pretty well for a normal non-featured wordpress theme on wordpress.org). That did not stop there. AppChain usually had 150 uniques / day since that particular day. Now it’s 100 extra uniques constant and sometimes growing… Ah, did I mention that Slidette had more than 3000 downloads so far? (that’s 12 days as of today). So thanks for the community for receiving this theme so well.
To me Slidette is a nice theme, nothing special, actually I want to create much better and prettier themes (ones that will actually get featured and bring 700 unique / day minimum… But of course it’s no longer about the amount of visitors to me. Quality comes first, quality is much more important than anything and if you look back at the first post of appchain, that’s the main purpose I’m trying to achieve with AppChain, though things are much more complex than that and there are a lot of things that need to be taken into consideration.
Anyway, I’ve learned a lot since AppChain was born and there’s still so much to learn, it will never end.
So what’s next?
The new direction is less blogging, more building, creating, designing etc. So you’re going to see more themes and wordpress themes and who knows what other services and products rather than reviews and articles. There are already enough websites doing articles and reviews and it’s too much time consuming. I want to give more to the community..
Over the next 1-2 months, nothing much will happen on appchain (in terms of no more free themes or plugins for wordpress.org). But a lot of work for appchain.com will be done… Nothing for wordpress.org because something much much better will come. Just wait
